Leadership for Development: Seeking a 21st Century Paradigm  


How to create, sustain and develop economically progressive and professionally sound communities as based on promising, prosperous and innovative leadership, management, and entrepreneurial skills, systems etc., is a major challenge facing 21st century business and educational landscapes through unfixed socio-economic and cultural contexts. In view of the realities, it would be essential for the knowledge communities to remain intact with new business contexts for learning and be driven with research-knowledge in order to sustain and thrive ahead. Although international and national business domains across global settings have begun to witness enormous advancements and innovations, the questions relating which principles of management in which ways, have their significance on promoting economic development in today’s globalized world, remains a very sparsely studied phenomenon. Besides, binaries e.g. leadership and management, entrepreneurship and innovation etc. that pose their significance in promotion of business acumen, are yet largely unexplored areas. Also, it is not without challenges being able to identify new principles and approaches to management that can adequately be used to engage communities in practice of appropriate knowledge, and enhance new skills or acumen while driving the upcoming economic activities in new contexts. More precisely, in context of economic fluxes associated with the changes entering the domains of management discipline and business world, determining to what extent and how leadership or management, entrepreneurship and/ or innovation signify for gearing development, is a crucial question. Associated are various large number of issues and challenges which will grow at a much faster pace tomorrow. In view of these, thus, being able to perform more efficiently is the top most necessity that today’s management education with power of research knowledge has to move ahead.

With a view to addressing various strands of the above indicated issues having relevance for management concepts, approaches, skills and practices within the emerging Global, Asian and Nepalese contexts, Global College announces 1st Global International Conference on Economics and Management. The international conference intended for engaging scholarly communities of learners, professionals and academic practitioners who would as well benefit an opportunity for their original research article to be published in the college peer reviewed journal titled: Journal of Management and Development Economics.

 Guidelines for Abstract Submission 

 Paper Categories 

Papers for conference presentation may consist of research work as based on literature review (content or meta-analysis), experimental and quasi experimental research, empirical surveys, and case studies submitted for oral presentations, symposium, and poster presentations as applicable. All submissions for conference presentations and publications thereafter are subject to approval by the scientific committee of the conference.

Author Categories

Authors submitting their research will participate as key note speakers, panel presenters, discussants and commentators. Professors from any university belonging to Non-Nepali status, faculties, practitioners and leading entrepreneurs from international and national belongings, are invited for keynote presentations on different sub-themes relating economics and business management. The keynote speakers will present their professional and research contributions in attendance of audience comprising learner communities, researchers, faculty members and students of master and research degree. Thematic research papers will entail research contributions from professional researchers, university lecturers presented orally, in module of symposium in the parallel sessions in presence of panel chairs and discussants. Early stage researchers (currently perusing M. Phil or PhD scholars) are eligible to submit the papers. Master and research degree students can also submit their research papers co-authored by their supervisor faculty mandatorily for the oral (PPT slide) and symposium.  

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

Abstract should be submitted in Microsoft Word format.  The abstract should cover the followings: i. Purpose ii. Methodology iii. Results and Implications

 Authors should provide 5-6 relevant and short key words that capture the principal topics of the paper.

The text for abstract must include the title but must not include the author name or affiliation anywhere in the text. There should be no content in the abstract which suggests the source of author. 

Abstract (not exceeding 250 words) should be submitted to latest by August 15, 2019.

 There would be no additional fee in case an author intending to present the second abstract. However, the second abstract needs to follow the process of a formal submission and review as was the case with their first abstract.

 All the abstracts together with papers on meeting the criteria will be published in the Journal of Management and Development Economics, the blind reviewed Journal of open access published by Global College of Management. 

Guidelines for Full Paper Submission

 Manuscript should be submitted in Microsoft Word format. Manuscript should be around 6000-8000 words in length. This includes all text including references and appendices.

 Submission should include a separate title page which clearly indicates the name(s) of the author(s), affiliation(s), complete mailing address(es), telephone and fax numbers and email address(es) and the title of the paper. 

 The text for manuscript must include the title but must not include the author name or affiliation anywhere in the text. There should be no content in the manuscript which suggests the source of author since the manuscript will be blind reviewed. 

Manuscript should be submitted to  latest by October 30, 2019.

Acceptance of papers and suggested modification will be communicated within ten days of the receipt of the paper.

Manuscript Review Criteria

1. Relevance: Does the subject of the manuscript appeal to the interests of the conference attendees? 2. Literature: Does the manuscript include the review of current literature related to the theme of the manuscript?

3. Methodology: Does the manuscript include rigorous and right methods?

4. Conclusion and Implications: Does the conclusion address the problem/gap? Do implications lead to foundation for further research and managerial practices?

5. Originality: Does the paper add new findings, insights or knowledge to the body of literature?

Formatting of the Manuscript 

 Page Setup: 1. All papers must be written in 8.5″ × 11″ page setting in portrait page orientation

 2. The paper must have a 1 inch margins. No page should have any kind of border      or decorations. 

3. All pages of the paper including bibliography and annexure should be numbered using Arabic numerals of 12 font size. 4. Page numbers shall be placed at the bottom centre of the page.

Font:  1. The general text should be typed in „Times New Roman‟ Font, „Regular‟ Font

Style, „12‟ Font size and left justified with one and half line spacing. 

2. All headings must be capital and bold. All sub-headings must be bold and italicized.

 3. The font size, style used in Level one, Level two and three headings should be consistently.

4. Provide 6pts space before and after a paragraph.

Figures:  1. All non-numerical data or any other illustrative visual material – for example, drawings, graphs, photographs, flowcharts, line diagrams etc. should be labelled as figures. 

2. Ensure that all figures are in greyscale 

3. All figures shall carry a suitable title and shall be numbered as per the format specified below. The figure reference number should be followed by a suitable caption in Italics, left aligned and placed below the figure. 

4. The source or any notes of the figure should be given immediately below the figure but above the caption. Line spacing of 1 may be used for notes and figure caption.

 5. All figures may be numbered sequentially in the text and referred in the list of figures. The caption used for the figures in the list of figures should be exactly same as the caption used in the main text of the report where these figures appear.

Citations and References

2. References should be cited in text with author-date citation system and are listed alphabetically in the reference list. 

3. The entries in the reference list should be double-spaced and should have hanging indent.


Manuscript submitted to the journal should not have been published before in their current or substantially similar form, or be under consideration for publication with another journal or conference.

The contributors should fill the declaration form duly signed by all authors that manuscript has neither been published anywhere nor is being considered presently for publication anywhere. 


The best paper from the Academicians/Industry and student categories will be awarded with a cash prize.

 Publication Opportunities

Authors of accepted abstracts who wish to publish the manuscript in the journal of Global College of Management will need to submit the manuscript within the timeline outlined in this note.  

  • Selected manuscripts based on blind peer review will be published in the Journal of Management and Development Economics, a blind reviewed, open access journal with ISSN Number.   Authors will need to submit the manuscript as per the guidelines of the journal they wish to get published in.
  • Participation and presentation in the conference does not guarantee the publication of the manuscript.

Important dates and deadlines 

All submissions (papers, abstracts and posters) accepted for presentation in this conference will be fully blind reviewed by the scientific committee and published in the Journal of Management and Development Economics, ISSN code holder, peer-reviewed publication of Global College of Management Kathmandu, Nepal. The digital proceeding will be available to view and download from on completion of the conference.
